Good afternoon CMS Families,

I hope this email finds everyone well and in good health!  I would like to share some very important information regarding Quarter 4 grading.  As outlined in the Bartow County Digital Learning Academic Framework, there will be no new assignments for students after May 6th.  Starting May 7th, you will be able to view your child’s current Quarter 4 and Year End overall grade in Powerschool.  The Quarter 4 grade will be determined by averaging the first three quarters of the school year.   Work submitted the last nine weeks and the digital learning assignments may be used to supplement or increase the Quarter 4 average.

Middle School Connections classes that are semester long will receive a Q4 grade based on the Q3 average and work submitted during digital learning may enhance their Q4 overall grade.

All students should return work, digital or hard copies to their assigned teachers no later than May 12th.  Hard copies may be returned to the school Monday through Friday between 8:30 am and 3:00 pm.

Though no new assignments will be posted after May 6th, teachers will still be available online to help students and receive work assigned during digital learning through May 18th in order to help improve their current overall grade for the course.  Final Grades for the course will be posted and submitted on May 19th. Contact the teacher if you have specific grade concerns.

Additionally, we have much to celebrate as this year is approaching its end.  We have scheduled our Awards Day Ceremonies for the following dates:

6th Grade’s will be posted on Wednesday, May 20

7th Grade’s will be posted on Thursday, May 21

8th Grade’s will be posted on Friday, May 22

 

Students will be able to view their awards days digitally through Schoology, the CMS website, and through Facebook beginning at 10:00 am on these dates. 

Following each awards ceremony, we have scheduled a computer drop off and locker pick up for the following grade levels:

6th grade          Thursday, May 21st from 9:00 am – 3:00 pm.

7th grade          Friday, May 22nd from 9:00 am – 3:00 pm.

8th grade          Tuesday, May 26th from 9:00 am – 3:00 pm.

 

Parents will drive to the back of the building (bus loading area) and there will be stations for you to drive up and drop off computers and pick up student belongings from their hallway and gym lockers.  Additionally, if your child has a school owned band instrument, chorus or JROTC uniform, library book or class novel, they may drop it off at that time as well. 

I know this has been a long email with an abundance of information!   I also want to say a big thank you to all of our parents for your support through this pandemic.  We miss our students and can’t wait to celebrate their success and hard work during our awards ceremonies!
